Alice Halstead who I wrote about back in November (http://www.diabetes1.org/forum/Children/Young_18_year_old_girl_spends_EVERY_night_in_hospital#64499 ) has a rare form of diabetes where she has spent the last 2 1/2 years since the age of 18 living in hospital to stay alive due to crazy fluctuations of her blood sugars. She has come to me for help to spread the word of her latest endeavour as she raises money for the children's charity Rays of Sunshine . This charity granted her a memorable wish to see The Lion King in London, which involved taking a medical team with her! Following her wish she wanted to give other seriously and terminally ill children a similar opportunity like she had. She knew the only way she could do that was to raise money for them. Consequently she is organising a Charity Ball in March (you should see the pretty pink ballgown she'll be wearing - if I lived closer to her - I'd have been honoured to make it for her - complete with a pump pocket for her).
She needs our help as raffle prizes and donations ( http://www.justgiving.com/alice-halstead) are required to make this event as successful as possible and allow more wishes to be granted for very special children. Maybe you know someone who may be able to help by donating or maybe you could help personally. I know Alice will appreciate any help we can give to her - so pass this message on if you wish!
