Received an e-newsletter today from the IDF on the situation in Haiti for those coping with their diabetes during this very difficult time. Insulin for Life delivered the first batch of supplies on January 17th to the Haitian Foundation for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases. A second batch followed on January 21st with a few logistical hiccups along the way, but they made it, but more supplies are greatly needed.

FatCatAnna,
Thanks for sharing this. I will pass on to my friends from Haiti- it's an awful situation there. But it is bringing out the best in many people... Praise the Lord for groups like IDF.org!

I live in Montreal, Canada, where we have a very large population from Haiti, due to our province being French. The earthquake that struck Haiti last week has been devastating to many here in Montreal, with friends and family still back home in their country. I cannot imagine what it is like there as I'm sure many of you feel the same way, and as I diabetic, I'm not sure how I would be fairing.
IDF and Insulin for Life which is a nonprofit organisation based in Australia have joined hands to help out in getting much needed relief effort for people with diabetes in Haiti. Insulin for Life collect and distribute insulin and diabetic supplies that would be otherwise discarded to recognised organisations all over our big blue marble. Already, in such a short time, they have shipped of insulin, meters, test strips, and other supplies that to the Haitian Diabetes Association. This foundation houses the only diabetes clinic in Haiti, which is reportedly still standing.
